Game Jolt In-App Events
All of the events listed here took place on the Game Jolt app and website. They were all created to deliver value to partners and help meet our KPIs (largely focused on engagements.)
#ArcaneGX (Dec. 2024)
We collaborated with Opera to promote Opera and Arcane's art contest!
Quests entered users' quest logs encouraging them to:
Post the art they entered into the contest
Post tips for their fellow artists
Show what tools they'll use to enter
Like 20 posts which use the tags from the previous quests.
For this event, I was responsible for:
Ideating and creating the quests for the event with an eye towards maximizing user engagement.
Creating assets to be used in the Arcane site takeover
Drafting and scheduling all posts about the event on both Game Jolt and on social media
Drafting messages to Game Jolt users promoting the event.
Joltidays 2024 (Dec. 2024)
Game Jolt's annual holiday event returned in 2024! Starting on December 2, 2024, holiday-themed quests entered users' quest logs.
As an example, the "Ponder the Joltiday Orb" quest expanded on the lore built in other Joltidays quests and tasked users with collecting the pieces of the shattered orb. In order to do so, they had to channel positive energy (i.e. do positive engagements on the site) and then place a digital sticker of each orb.
We also used the event to highlight work by Creators across Game Jolt:
We featured Creators' holiday and winter-inspired items in the Game Jolt Shop.
We ran an "Advent Calendar" from December 2 to January 1. Each day for 30 days, users received a quest in their quest log which highlights and rewards them for following a specific Creator.
I was responsible for:
Conceptualizing the event
Building quests for the event including the Advent Calendar.
Creating promos for the event
Co-ordinating with our in-house artist to create images for quests including the Joltiday orb, shards of the Joltiday orb, and more.
Adding Winter Wonderland items to the Game Jolt shop
Picking which Creators would be featured in the Advent Calendar.
Game Jolt Celebrates Pride Month 2024 (Jun. 2024)
We once again gave users the ability to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community by completing gamified challenges to unlock Pride collectibles.
In 2024, we made the celebration last all month long because a new Pride quest dropped every Monday in June.
We also once again added a new set of premium Pride collectibles to the Game Jolt Shop. (All proceeds from the sale of these collectibles were donated to The Trevor Project at the end of the month.)
We also celebrated LGBTQ+ characters from across gaming history in a series of posts that went up every weekday in June.
In producing this event I:
Collaborated with the art team to create the new premium collectibles.
Wrote daily post highlighting a LGBTQ+ video game character. (I heavily consulted GLAAD's lists.)
Created all social assets.
Created all quests (which are gamified, time-limited challenges.)
Examples include asking users to post why they love their favorite LGBTQ+ video game character and placing digital stickers on posts that use Pride backgrounds.
You can see the kickoff post here. You can see one of the character posts here.
Joltidays 2023 (Dec. 2023)
Game Jolt's annual holiday event returned in 2023! Starting on December 1 2023, holiday-themed quests entered users' quest logs.
Completing one of the quests entered our users into 50,000 Joltbux giveaway!
We also used the event to highlight work by Creators across Game Jolt:

You can see the post with our winners here.

Game Jolt partnered with Steel Wool Studios to promote the release of their game Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach - Ruin.
I created multiple FNaF inspired quests which users could complete to enter to win merch (including shirts provided by Steel Wool.)
One of the quests was Investigate the Ruined Pizzaplex which is a sequel to quest "Help Repair Animatronic Kikkerstein" from our earlier quest. I
In the quest, Animatronic Kikkerstein tasks users with exploring a ruined pizzaplex to find out what lies within. They had to place a cellphone sticker on a post featuring multiple mascots to "take a picture" and get proof of the mascots that lie within.

Summer Mascot Bracket (Jul. - Aug. 2023)
A multi-week event where mascots from all of gaming history faced off in a series of one on one match ups. Users voted for their favorite until the ultimate winner was crowned.
It was great for engagement because many of the mascots involved have DEVOTED fanbases. In addition to voting, some also participated by making posts encouraging people to root for their mascot of choice, fan art of the people who remained in the various stages of the tournament, and more.
I was responsible for:
Conceptualizing the event
Picking the mascots who would take part
Writing and scheduling the match up posts
Writing and scheduling posts throughout the tournament updating users about who was in the lead

Five Nights at Game Jolt (Jun. 2023)
An event inspired by Five Nights at Freddy's! The plot of this event was that there's an abandoned pizza place filled with animatronic versions of the Game Jolt mascots. Users were tasked with helping repair Animatronic Kikkerstein which meant they had to (via positive engagement on the site) traverse the pizzeria to find the needed parts to repair him.
Users were encouraged to engage on game through quests including:
Help Repair Animatronic Kikkerstein
Users had to follow Steel Wool Studios' Game Jolt account and place a battery sticker on a specified post to get the parts needed to repair Animatronic Kikkerstein.
When they did, a jumpscare would play. After that, they received a trophy of Animatronic Kikkerstein's broken eyes.
Design Your Own Animatronic
Users posted their own original animatronic and were entered to win Five Nights at Freddy's merch from Youtooz.
Post a Photo of Your Favorite Five Nights at Freddy's Merch

Terraria x Game Jolt: Skeletron Prime Attacks
(Nov. 2022)
(Nov. 2022)
Produced for Game Jolt in collaboration with Re-Logic, the event ran from Nov 14 to Nov 21, 2022.
I coordinated with Game Jolt's art, development, and marketing teams on this event.
Skeletron Prime is a boss from the game Terraria and on November 18th, it attacked Game Jolt in a live stream. In that stream, users could attack the villain by placing stickers of weapons from Terraria including the Star Cannon, Golden Shower, Megashark, and Light Disc. Every time a user defeated Skeletron Prime, there was a chance that "Rick Prime" (aka Rick Astley) would appear instead.
Users could get these weapon stickers by fulfilling quests or placing "ingredient stickers" on "crafting station" posts to craft them.
Our goal with this event was to increase KPIs relating to engagement (which is why we used the mechanic of placing stickers to fight the monster) and it was a huge success.
My work on this event included:
The initial conceptualization of the event.
Coordinating with developers to set scope and timeline. Made sure all needed development happened on schedule.
Coordinating with our in-house artist on static image assets both for the event and for promotional materials.

It was really cool seeing how excited our users got! They even cheered on their team with posts and fan art.
